Michael Nickel

Michael Nickel (b. 1989) lives in Berlin and works interdisciplinarily — as composer, pianist, gallery director, theologian, and speaker.

Originally from Haiger and now a Berlin native by choice — the neoclassical pianist and composer listens with what one might call a “third ear”. His pieces emerge from pure improvisation and develop into fixed arrangements full of tension, intensity, and dynamic movement.

His music — shaped by original compositions with minimalist, romantic and neoclassical influences — is frequently described as powerful yet gentle and deeply emotional; the listening experience invites mindfulness, dreaming, and hope for a more beautiful world.

Michael doesn’t only create music: he integrates his role as gallery director and curator into his broader artistic process.

Beyond solo work, Michael is involved in collaborative and interdisciplinary formats. For example:
 • His project Finde Zukunft (“Find Future”) provides resources for mental health and personal growth — combining music, reflection, journaling, and spiritual-/life-coaching.
 • He offers his music for contexts such as events, webinars, and sessions of collective reflection — people report experiencing his concerts as journeys into inner space, bringing rest, presence, and emotional openness. “
