From September 9th to 13th, 2025, StageLight Berlin and three amazing artists brought a breathtaking immersive performance to the German Pavilion at Expo2025Osaka in Japan. At the heart of this international highlight lies a remarkable artist collaboration between Magnificent Matter & Sofi Paez.
In addition, ZEISS Microscopy collaborated with StageLight Berlin & Magnificent Matter. Using real microscopic imagery, the performance transformed scientific exploration into a poetic, multisensory experience — turning technology into emotion and discovery into art.
The collaboration with ZEISS has proven to be an extraordinary success. By integrating ZEISS’s world-leading optical technology with live music, visuals, and performance, the show not only mesmerized audiences but also achieved outstanding results across multiple dimensions:
-> Excellent social media reach for ZEISS and the project overall
-> Highly positive customer and employee feedback
-> Over 100 media features in Japan (resulting in six-figures value of reach)
Audience Voices
Feedback from both audiences and ZEISS employees highlights just how deeply the performance resonated. Many praised the fusion of technology and art as “fresh,” “moving,” and “intellectually thrilling.” Others noted how the show redefined ZEISS’s image, transforming it from a purely technology-driven company into a brand that inspires and moves people through art. The integration of microscopic imagery into live performance revealed a new creative dimension — one that bridges science and sensibility. Here are some quotes from the audience, employees and customers:
“The overwhelming visual beauty brought by the pinnacle of technology stimulated my curiosity and changed how I perceive the world.”
“It was a perfect embodiment of the Expo theme — ‘Designing a Future Society Where Life Shines.’”
“I didn’t expect it to be that good — the blend of music and microscopy was captivating.”
Celebrating Collaboration
For StageLight Berlin, this project stands as a shining example of what’s possible when art, technology, and vision come together. It celebrates not only creative excellence but also meaningful collaboration — between artists, scientists, and audiences across continents.
The live piano by Sofi Paez, real-time visuals, and the serene Japanese summer setting of the German Pavilion came together in perfect harmony — a moment of cross-cultural beauty and creative synergy that could only be experienced there and then.
The collaboration also sparked enthusiasm for future projects. With an expectation rating of 4.77/5, audiences and employees alike expressed a desire to see ZEISS continue supporting young artists and fostering new forms of artistic innovation.
Together with ZEISS Microscopy and Magnificent Matter, we are proud to have created a moment where the microscopic became magnificent — and where light, in every sense, took center stage.
