Lola Volonakis

Opera Singer & Artist | Born in Annecy, living and working between France and Berlin

Lola Volonakis is an opera singer and interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the boundary between the organic and the technologic between raw human emotion in its primal form and the cold, calculated perfection of modern technologies.

She studied at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), after completing academic degrees in law and political science. Her artistic language draws as much from classical opera as it does from electronic music and new technologies.

At the heart of her work lies the human voice — not only as a sound, but as a political symbol, a marker of identity, and a tool for freedom and influence. She uses it as both an artistic and political medium to question the role of humanity in a world increasingly shaped by algorithms and digital systems.

Whether allowing an artificial intelligence to take control of her identity, robing our obsession with a flawless, controlled world, or singing with a camera placed in her throat, exposing the impact of social media on intimacy and artistic exposure, Lola constantly challenges the limits of the organic, perception, and control.
